The Forensic Trial Consultant We Hired Is Noted In New Book by Dr. Stephen Baskerville, Ph.D.

We will know whether or not we have a full-blown child custody legal battle in roughly 2 weeks!  If you are a father seeking more time with his child or children, you had better be ready to go the distance.  We are not attorneys and therefore can not offer legal advice but we can suggest that you hire the following BEFORE the start of a child custody legal dispute:

1)  Local Attorney with a track record of winning - we are very thankful that we have such a person.  Ask around in your community and there will be one or two attorneys which people will reference as being the most aggressive winners.

2) Forensic Trial Consultant - the forensic trial consultant will work directly with the attorney providing advice, strategy, research, referrals to experts, etc.  Oftentimes a forensic trial consultant can be twice the cost of an attorney per hour.  Be prepared to pay a significant amount of money for their services; anywhere from $8,000-20,000 upfront before the trial even starts.

We have been satisfied so far with the Forensic Trial Consultant that we hired in anticipation of a child custody legal dispute.  We hired Dean Tong - he may or may not be right for your case.  Dean Tong has appeared on thousands of radio and TV shows; along with countless books and magazines.  Dean Tong is actually cited in the new book "Taken Into Custody" by Dr. Stephen Baskerville, Ph.D.  Dean Tong has appeared on numerous TV shows such as Dr. Phil, Montel Williams and many more.  Dean Tong has appeared on over 2000 TV and Radio Talk Shows as an expert guest.

Another factor that goes into the cost of a high powered attorney or trial consultant is how much media they generate.  Dean Tong has even gone head to head against Gloria Allred in spirited debates on TV and Radio.  

Dean Tong has also consulted on the Elian Gonzalez case and scores of other high profile cases.  The media seems to love Dean Tong and how he articulates his opinions!  Media attention to your case will help, especially if what you are asking for in your child custody dispute is not outrageous or out of line.  For example, you are asking for 25 additional overnights and you already see your children on a somewhat regular basis.   

3)  Hire a polygraph examiner who is consider to be the best in your region.  Not your state, but your region of several states.  Be sure to have several tests concluded BEFORE your trial starts.

4)  Hire a solid Private Investigator from your state - it is amazing what they can find that will make your case a winner in court.  If your ex currently has a spouse be sure to check on their past including the public court documents for his or her divorce if they were married prior.

5)  If you have evidence of Parental Alienation, it would be unwise to go into court without first hiring a PA expert.  If you hired a quality Forensic Trial Consultant they will generally know someone who will be very credible in court.

6)  Hire an expert on child safety or an independent registered custody evaluator.  Have them walk your entire house inside and out, including all property that the children live on or near.  Have them make recommendations to your house surroundings to improve child safety.  A Private Investigator can determine if there are any child safety risks where your ex lives.

The most critical part of a full-blown child custody legal dispute is to shelter the children from ANY and ALL parts of your preparation for trial.  Same holds true once the trial starts - keep the children away from the increased stress load that you will certainly carry. 

It is essential that you offer mediation before initiating a child custody dispute in court.  It is also essential that you offer the best deal possible to get exactly what you want for you and your children and make sure it is a deal that would ALSO reduce long-term tension and future legal disputes.  This attempt, if failed, can become very powerful in court.  Make sure you offer this in writing and that you also let the other party know that you are offering the best you possibly can; and that you will not accept less for the same.  The key to all of this is to seek long-term peace for both parties and to co-parent without the constant concern of yet another legal dispute.  Your children will thank you for this when they are older.

Robert Pedersen, a Michigan dad, wins Runner-Up award in Best Life Magazine's Hero Dad Contest

My husband, Robert Pedersen, found out today (Father's Day) the most incredible news to date!  He won the Runner-Up Award to Best Life Magazine's nationwide Hero Dad Contest! 

Millions of readers of Best Life and their Online Magazine will be exposed to the struggles of non-custodial parents to be an EQUAL parent to their children.  This contest was also sponsored by the media powerhouse Rodale Publishing, MSN, The Greenbrier Resort and the National Fatherhood Initiative.  In the area of fatherhood no one is more respected than The National Fatherhood Initiative. 

This fantastic news comes just after Robert and Robb were interviewed on the ultra-popular Radio Lia Show which has a nationwide audience in the U.S. and a growing fan base in Canada!

As Robert's proud wife, who is expecting and also a step-mom of two amazing kids, I am amazed by how wonderful Robert is with his children.  He is active in every sense of being a dad.  I am so proud to be his wife and to have him be a dad to our child and also two children from a prior marriage.  He continues today to ask for equal time with his children who live only 7 minutes away.  The last thing he wants is yet another round of expensive litigation.  Each dollar spent on attorneys is one less dollar spent on the children. 

Never forget!  It is wrong to deny a child the fundamental right of EQUAL time, love, nurturing and education with BOTH fit parents.    Happy Father's Day to all!

A Child's Right

This Step-Mom is loved and appreciated!

Being a step-mother is sometimes a thankless job and I am sure many step-parents feel this at one time or another.  I am amazed by the strength of my wife, who is step-mother to my two incredible children.  I thank God for how wonderful she is as a wife and also how awesome she is with my children.  I could not have asked for anyone better to share my life with.

Amazing!  At our daycare for the kids she was given a mother's day gift to pass along to my children's mother.  No recognition for step-parents?  Angela came home and placed this mother's day gift on the counter for us to pass along to the children's mom on mother's day.  I am very proud of how she responded to this.  Being a step-parent is especially difficult when you are on the side of having to worry about child support.  The stress of staying current on child support affects more than just me. 

On this mother's day don't forget to thank the step-moms as well.  They are EQUALLY important in a child's life and upbringing.  I appreciate everything she does and love her for everything she is. 

I thought I would share a special video that I made for Angela from our wedding day.  It was the most awesome day of my life!  So much fun! We wanted it to be a very private and small wedding so only a few people were invited.  I will never forget this day.  We still do not have a penny to our name and loads of stress, yet I would not trade this for anything.

7 Steps to Bonding with Your Stepchild

Family photos?

Many of you have emailed us asking where some of the more personal pictures are of Robert and I with the children.  We still will have an updated photo section but we have moved the family pictures to a secure website which requires us to issue a password for viewing.  It is quite an extensive collection with over 1,200 pictures over the last year alone.  Along with the ultra cool photos we have uploaded several hours of video including our wedding. 

Thank you everyone for your support as always.  Robert has begun his training for the bicycle ride from Lansing, MI to Washington, D.C.  This long journey will bring awareness to a child's right to both fit parents.  Robert will be doing this in honor of his son and daughter.  We are sure there will be a large amount of press surrounding this event!  There are numerous stops planned at particular locations for added publicity.

We will also have the capability to watch Robert on-line while on his trek to Washington, D.C. via an advanced GPS tracking device.   There will also be live video feed during certain sections of the trip.  I worry about his safety biking this far.  However, if you know Robert he is doing this for his children and those across Michigan.  AS A NOTE - HE WILL NOT BE MAKING THE TRIP WITH THE BIKE, NOR IN THE RIDING POSITION,IN THE PIC ABOVE!  I POSTED THE PIC BECAUSE I LOVE THIS PIC AND REMEMBER WHEN ROBERT'S SON WATCHED IN PURE AMAZEMENT THAT HIS DADDY COULD DO SUCH A COOL AND SILLY THING.

Happy Holidays! From A Child's Right

Happy Holidays everyone and thank you so much for all of your support and help with A Child's Right!  We accomplished a ton of things this year and things will continue to get better as we continue to grow.

We now have over 4,000 Michigan voters that subscribe to our monthly newsletter!  This is simply mind blowing if you take into consideration how long we have been up and running!  Robert and I are very thankful for all of our friends and numerous members.  We are very thankful for our two children from Robert's prior marriage and we cherish every second we have them.  Of course, I am personally thankful for Robert.   He is my best friend and so much more and he is such an incredible father and husband.  We have very little but we are rich with love and happiness!  Thank you again everyone for your support.

Daddy Loves YOU Forever...ever!

We love saying that in our house!  " I love you forever...ever!" it is a common saying within our house which my wife Angela started.  She tells me it means you will love longer than forever!  She is such an incredible woman and it is an honor to be her husband.  I have never felt so lucky in my life.  She is so much fun to be around and we can be doing essentially nothing and have fun doing that.  We have been through hell and back with my unfortunate drama from the "ex" and she has stood by my side.  I lost my job and she stood by my side.  Finally someone who understands what family is about, instead of "hopping" around from one family to the next and always changing who you are so as to fit in.  Angela is the same Angela I met close to four years ago.  At the age of 24 she has the maturity of someone 10 years older than her.  She is smarter than anyone else I have ever dated or been with.  I just feel so damn lucky to have her as a wife.  She is my best friend and so much more.  I will miss you my sexy nurse...Angela is a Registered Nurse...no I wasn't getting kinky...jeez get your head out of the gutter man!

To my son and daughter:  Always remember that Daddy will love you no matter what and I will always be there for you.  I will miss you while gone at training for my new job and will call every night.  I have never been away from you both so long and this will be tough.  Both of you and Angela have brought me so much happiness and we have been a "family" for such a short time.  You know now and will know when you are older that I am a good Dad and I love you with all of my heart.  Your Mom promised me joint physical custody time after time.  She promised me in writing and in recorded conversations.  Each time she sets a need standard that must be met.  I pray she realizes that pain she has caused to all and will eventually make this right.  The loss of time with you will never change the fact that I am your daddy and I will love you in your good and bad times.  I will miss you so much.  Love Forever...ever, Daddy!
