Michigan activists are ON FIRE! All across Michigan Equal Parenting Advocates are educating elected officials and Presidential candidates about the benefits of Equal Parenting Rights. Delete of Michigan Father's Rights Coalition is seen below educating Mike Huckabee about how children benefit from equal parenting rights. Delete was a critical part of the 2007 Equal Parenting Bike Trek.
Mike Saxton, a district advocate for A Child's Right and Dads and Moms of Michigan, spoke directly with Mike Huckabee.
Here is Mr. Saxton's account: "At a press conference today at Demmer Corp. in Lansing Michigan I had the opportunity to discuss shared parenting with Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee.
First I asked if he supported the proposed "Family Preservation and Reconciliation Act" to which he replied he was unfamiliar. I was able to provide him with volume 34 #3 of The Liberator which contains the text of the proposed Act and also a brochure from Dads & Moms of Michigan.
Second, I explained that there were over 1 million non-custodial parents in Michigan and over 25 million in the US; if you were elected President what would you do you ensure that children have equal access to both fit parents, regardless of marital status? He replied that he supports shared parenting.
Third, we discussed Michigan's shared parenting bill HB 4564 and I asked if he would endorse it. He replied that he hadn't read it but that he does support shared parenting. Rep. Rick Jones was also present at the press conference and in response to my request has forwarded a copy of HB 4564 to Governor Huckabee's office.
I suggest that we all ask our Representatives and Senators to ask the candidates their stance on shared parenting, and for an endorsement of our HB 4564, as they accompany them on the campaign trail. Please check the evening news for coverage of the press conference."
Note the excellent use of the ACFC newspaper "The Liberator"!

Something is wrong here I googled "father rights group + michigan" and the first listing was sponsored by .. The national organization for women ... duh problem ..
I have been checking on the joint custody bill and here is what I found out
The Republicans are for the bill
The Democrats opposed
The Democratic State Representative keeping the bill bottled up in committee is from around Flint .. where a lot of the "Moms" are on welfare ... which would mean that ... with "joint custody" .. both parents would required to work ... to support the children ... or go to Jail ... which would dry up the need for "welfare money"
That would end all or most of the benefits the "welfare custodial parent" are currently getting saving millions of dollars for the tax payer.
They don't want that ... saving millions of dollars ...for the Tax Payer
With both parents working they could or would lose:
Free medical
Free prescriptions
(which I personally know are sold .. I take care of rental houses)
Free dental
Free section 8 housing
Food stamps could be reduced or eliminated
Free college?
and who knows what else
Free welfare Money .. builds a great voter base for the people "protecting their free money" instead of learning to set an example for the children they raise ... which becomes a .. "way of life"
Studies have shown that working helps people from being depressed and raising depressed children
Joint Parenting according to a Detroit News poll .. is preferred by 86% of people surveyed
Anyhow that is some of what I have found

Laws should definitely be reviewed and changed. What applied to women before doesn't these days. Women are favored by the courts
only because they are women. But, women are taking unfair advantage of their so-called rights and keeping their children away from the biological fathers on any pretex. Often mothers have more income and possessions than the fathers which is not taken into consideration by the courts and if she says she wants more child support it is rarely denied. The only way he can fight this is by
going to court, often a large expense he can't afford; and even if
he wins she retaliates by not following visitation agreements and keeps the children away from him, which means another court expense to fight...and around and around it goes with the woman usually winning, dad spending a lot of money for courts and still not able
to see his children often. It's an unfair mess. I have been watching my son suffer through this for fourteen years...he has
given up.

Divorced dads should NOT get equal time with their kids if they do not now or ever have, paid child support whatsoever, or if they are overdue for years and years and have played the system. Of course they should not get equal time if they are abusive, child molestors, or might in any way be harmful to the kid(s). Far, Far too many have never paid a dime and the states don't pursue. There are sports stars making millions who never pay. This is ridiculous!!

I THINK IF THE FATHER IS A GOOD DAD HE SHOULD GET EQUAL TIME WITH THE CHILDREN LETS FACE IT THERE IS NO WINNERS IN A DIVORCES THE CHILDREN ARE THE ONE WHO SUFFER. PARENTS PIT ONE AGAINST THE OTHER. I THINK THE JUDGE SHOULD SAY COME BACK WHRN YOUR CHILDREN ARE OF AGE AND THAN WE WILL TALK ABOUT YOUR DIVORCE. NOT TILL THAN UNLESS THERE IS ABUSE.
